Dealing with CoViD19 - Now that Your Employees are Working From Home

Now that your employees are working home, we thought to re-share this post on our top 5 tips on How to maintain productivity while your employees work from home.


Here are five (5) tips to effectively manage your telecommuting employees:

1.Set Out Telecommuting Guidelines: State your rules clearly. Spell out sanctions for any breach. For example; daily reports must be sent in at the close of business daily, emails must be responded to within the hour of receipt, physical meetings at the office on Mondays and so on.



2.Design Weekly Key Performance Indicators: Or even daily. Your telecommuting employees must know what is expected of them and how their work will be measured. This gives them a sense of accountability that you may have been concerned about.

Emphasize that pay and reward will be based strictly on performance rather than number of hours worked.


3.Invest in Collaborative Platforms: The Google “G-Suite” is a total package that provides; cloud storage, video conferencing, chats, file creation and sharing and lots more. Collaborative tools allow for access to project documents, project teams, live communications and other processes needed to get work done.


4.Maintain an Open, Easy & Prompt Communication: Use multiple communication channels; instant chats, video calls, cloud reporting. Try to always provide prompt response to remote communications as a lag could be impact on your employee’s job.

Engage regularly with your employee in person. Schedule regular weekly meetings at the office, this will maintain the sense of inclusion of your telecommuting employee to the local work environment.


5.Organize Team Bonding Activities: Because your telecommuting employees don’t have the benefit of office chit chat and collaboration, you will have to create a team bonding culture. Organize scheduled social gatherings, send out motivational mails, send public access recognition mails and other activities that brings your team together.
